2008 Inductees

Charlie was a 1969 graduate of North High, where he participated in football, basketball, and baseball.  He was a two year starter in football, playing as a defensive back and wide receiver; and was a two year starting guard in basketball for the Spartans.  He earned varsity letters in both sports for two seasons.  His baseball play for the Fargo American Legion team, where he was a three-year starter, earned him an NDSU scholarship.  Charlie earned his B.S. Degree in Physical Education from NDSU in 1973.

He taught elementary Physical Education for the Fargo Public Schools from 1973 to 1995.  During his first five years of teaching, Charlie served as assistant gymnastics coach at Fargo South.  In 1978, he became the head coach, guiding the team to 18 EDC Championships and 4 NHSGCA Championships.  Charlie earned ND Coach of the Year recognition three times, was National Coach of the Year in 1989.  Since 1997, Charlie has served as Director of the Lakes Area Gymnastics Academy (Perham, MN) and Head Coach.  His teams have earned 6 Section Titles, 5 State Championships, and numerous All Around and Event Champions.

A 1996 graduate of North High, Elise participated in soccer and swimming, where she earned All-Conference and All-State honors; and served as a co-captain for both teams. She was a member of the 1996 State Championship soccer team. Elise attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where she was a member of the school's swimming and triathlon teams; and earned a Degree in Military History in 2000. She also earned a 2nd Lieutenant's Commission in the U.S. Army.

Elise's first tour of duty was as a platoon leader in Germany, where she worked in the area of troop and equipment deployment in Europe. Her assignment eventually led to the Middle East, where she became a movement control officer, controlling air, rail, and road transportation support in Iraq. She earned the Bronze Star for her service in Iraq. Her active duty assignments included time in Germany, Iraq, Kuwait, and Italy. In 2006, Elise left the active army to pursue a career in the civil service, and is now working as a transportation planner in Egypt.

A 1983 graduate of North High, Cynthia was active in orchestra and debate, earning All-State and other recognitions; and was active in the French Club and a member of the National Honor Society. Cynthia was also a member of the Trollwood Performing Arts program; and performed with the F-M Youth Symphony.  In 1987, she graduated with honors from Carleton College with a B.A. Degree in International Relations; and earned a Masters Degree from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government in Public Policy in 1990.

Cynthia joined the U.S. State Department in 1990, as a Presidential Management Fellow; and since 1991, she has served with the U.S. State Department Foreign Service.  Her tours of duty have included service in Embassies and Consulates in Egypt, France, Tunisia, and Morocco. She has served in the 24-hour Operations Center, worked on the Algeria portfolio, and in the Office of Counterterrorism; and is currently responsible for management issues in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere affairs.  Cynthia has been a recipient of the State Department's Individual Meritorious Honor three times.

A 1967 graduate of North High, Bill was a letter winner in cross country and track, serving as a team captain and earning high place finishes in both at the State Meets.  He was also an active member of North's male pep club (ELAM), and the school's chorus.  Bill attended NDSU, where he was active in campus student government, was a member of the Blue Key Honorary Fraternity, and AFROTC Group Commander.  In 1971, he earned a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering and received a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force.

Bill began his 26 year Air Force career in aircraft maintenance, serving in Viet Nam.  He was later selected to attend the Air Force Command and Staff College in Montgomery, AL; and at the same time completed a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Auburn University.  His professional skills and leadership ability led to continued advancement, and in 1988, having achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, he was selected to attend the Air Force War College; and a year later, was promoted to Colonel.  Since retirement from the service, Bill has become a consultant for corporate proposal development and program management.

Jon graduated from North High in 1981.  While a student at NHS, he played an important role in the development of the Creative Arts Studio program, earning him a UND Portfolio Scholarship.  He completed his undergraduate studies at MSUM, with a concentration in glass and ceramics, earning a B.A. Degree in 1991.  Jon pursued further study at the Smoky Hills Artisan Community in Osage, MN; and served as a Studio Assistant at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina.

In 1996, Jon completed a Master of Fine Arts Degree in the College of Art and Design at Southern Illinois University.  Throughout his working career, he has given special attention to inspiring and mentoring youth in the pursuit of art and creative expression.  Jon's House of Mulciber Mobile Unit has taken his efforts "on the road" to connect with students and communities.  His promotion of the arts has led him to service with the North Dakota Council on the Arts, the Lake Agassiz Arts Council, the F-M Visual Artists, as well as the Partnership Committee of the FPS and Plains Art Museum.  He is owner/operator of the House of Mulciber Glass Studio in Fargo.

A native if St. Paul, Minnesota, Pat attended NDSU, where she earned a B.S. Degree with Honors in 1964.  She then served as an Instructor and TA at NDSU in chemistry from 1964 to 1966.  After earning her M.S. Degree in Chemistry from NDSU, Pat taught science and math at the MSUM Laboratory School (secondary); and was an Instructor in chemistry and math at MSUM, working there from 1966 to 1970.

In the fall of 1970, Pat joined the North High teaching staff in the science department.  Throughout her career, which lasted until her retirement in 1999, she taught all levels of students, but was primarily an Advance Chemistry instructor.  Pat earned special recognition at the local, state, and national levels for her efforts in the classroom.  The North High Student Council selected her Teacher of the Year in 1997, and she was the FPS Teacher of the Year and North Dakota Finalist in 1992-93.  Pat also received the Red River Valley American Chemical Society's Outstanding Teacher Award in 1995; was a Presidential Scholars Distinguished Teacher in 1986 and 1996; and was a Milken National Award winner in 1994.

A 1979 graduate of North High, Bob was among the school's "best ever" in the sports of football and track. Bob was a three-year letter winner in both, Captain and Most Valuable Athlete as a senior, earned All-Conference and All-State recognition for his efforts, and was recognized as a High School All-American in football and track in 1978-79. He attended the Univ. of Minnesota, where he continued his football career, earning Big 10 All-Academic honors twice.

Bob graduated from the Univ. or Minnesota in 1982; and in 1986, earned a Law Degree from the Univ. of North Dakota. From 1987 to 1992, Bob served as an Enforcement Representative for the NCAA, responsible for policing cheating in inter-collegiate athletics. He worked for a local law firm from 1992 to 1997, specializing in the area of real estate. From 1997 to the present, Bob has served as In-House Counsel for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Dakota. Bob has been a volunteer working with various youth activities in the Fargo area; and has been a member of the Vocational Training Center Board.
