2013 Inductees

Marsha is a 1975 graduate of North High School, where she participated in swimming and track & field. She was a member of 2 State Championship relay teams in swimming for the Spartans in 1974, which was coupled with membership on the first sanctioned State Champion Swim Team. During the spring of her senior year, Marsha was the State Champion in the shot put.

After high school graduation, Marsha attended NDSU, where she earned a degree in Health, Physical Education, and Coaching. During her collegiate years, she got her start in coaching swimming with assignments at Ben Franklin Jr. High and North High School. In 1991, Marsha became the Head Swim Coach at West Fargo High School, where she continues to work with the boys program.

During Marsha's coaching tenure with the West Fargo Public Schools, her girls' teams earned 2 EDC Championships. The boys' teams won 9 EDC titles and 2 State Championships, sharing the last one in 2012 with Fargo North. Marsha's coaching success has led to recognition as EDC Coach of the Year 4 times for girls and 10 times for the boys program; and State Coach of the Year 2 times for the girls and 5 times in the boys program. She was also a nominee for the National Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2012. Marsha has directed the WF Flyers youth swim program and worked with the ND Special Olympics.

A native of Fargo, Bud graduated from Central High School in 1958; and attended Moorhead (MN) State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in English and Theatre in 1963. He was an original member of the MSUM StrawHat Players, participating in all phases of theatrical production during his college years. His professional preparation also included a Master of Arts degree from Goddard College.

As an educator, Bud's career in English and Theatre included stops in New Jersey, New York, and Minnesota, before joining the teaching staff at North High School, where he taught English and directed Theatrical productions from 1968 to 1982. He directed nearly 50 theatrical productions, including such notables as Brigadoon, South Pacific, Carnival, and Man of Lamancha. Under his directorship, the Spartan theatrical groups earned seven straight State Championships in One-Act Plays.

Bud was a recipient of the Fargo Public Schools Outstanding Teacher Award, served as an Assistant Director of the Summer Theatre Workshops at MSUM and the International Music Camps, and was a Regional Director for the International Thespian Society. Since leaving the field of education in 1982, Bud has worked in real estate and the financial services industry.

Kristin was a 1973 graduate of North High School, where she participated in choir, band, cheerleading, student council, and the sports of swimming and track. Her interest in forensics and theatre proved to be the springboard into her future studies and career. Competing in Dramatic and Comedic Interpretation, Kristin was a winner at the State and Regional levels, and was a quarterfinalist at the National Forensics Tournament. In Theatre, she won Best Actress recognition at the state level.

After leaving North High, Kristin attended MSUM, where she studied theatre and literature, playing many lead roles prior to her graduation in 1977. She was a member of the National Honor Society; and was a third-place finisher in the Young Artist competition sponsored by the Society of Arts and Letters.

Kristin moved to New York in pursuit of her theatre career, eventually performing with Shakespeare and Company, BAM Theatre Company, off Broadway with Al Pacino in a Public Theatre reading of Othello and on Broadway with Sir Ian McKellen in Amadeus. Her television credits include Chicago Hope and a Psychic Mom; radio with Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion; and film work in Pleasantville, Drop Dead Gorgeous, and the kidnapped wife in the movie, Fargo.

She is presently a medicinal, macrobiotic cook for cancer patients, and does some local coaching and acting. Kristin was a founding member of the Fargo Film Festival.

John is a 1971 graduate of North High School, where he participated in wrestling and golf. As a senior on the Spartan golf team, he and his teammates earned a State Championship. After leaving North High, John attended NDSU for two years, before transferring to the University of Minnesota Mortuary Science program, where he completed his degree in 1975.

His high school and college work experience included time as a clothier and with funeral homes in Fargo and St. Paul. After earning his college degree, John returned to familiar surroundings in Fargo, beginning his life's career with the Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home. He and his wife Cyd, have owned and operated the business together since 1982.

John's professional work has led to numerous affiliations and leadership roles relating to mortuary science, including District Governor and Past-President of the ND Funeral Directors Association, the International Conference of Funeral Service Exam Board, which has regulatory jurisdiction in Canada and the United States.

As a community member, John has been very active and often a lead member of the F-M Sertoma Club, East Gate Masonic Lodge, Hospice of the Red River Valley, and the First Lutheran Foundation. He and his wife of nearly 40 years have three children and three grandchildren.

Keith is a 1982 graduate of North High School.  After graduating, Keith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Organizational Behavior from the University of Mary and in 1991 he attended and graduated from Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command.  Keith also graduated from the FBI National Academy in 1991 and completed the FBI's Law Enforcement Executive Program in 2012.

Keith began his career in law enforcement in 1985 as a deputy sheriff for the Morton County, ND sheriff's department.  He became a Fargo police officer in January of 1987 and after steadily rising through the ranks he was appointed Fargo's Chief of Police in April of 2006.

In 2004, Keith was appointed by the North Dakota attorney general to serve on the North Dakota Peace Officer Standards and Training Board and has also served on numerous other law enforcement boards and committees.  His knowledge on the subject of impaired driving led to his work being published and referenced by other law enforcement officials throughout the country.  Keith is also recognized as a subject matter expert on the use of crime data and crash analysis and he provides instruction on behalf of the National Highway Safety Administration to police officers throughout the United States.
